The Equinox totem is inspired by the world famous Austrian artist Friedensreich Hundertwasser, who lived in New Zealand quite some time of his life just in the vicinity of where we have our studio right now.
There are even the world famous toilets in Kawakawa which is just 30 minutes drive away from our place.
Hundertwasser loved the extraordinary, the thinking out of the square, the use of colours excessively without losing the sense for harmony.
So, for the Equinox totem there was enough of inspiration just in our front yard.
It incorporates the sun, variations of the sun as a symbol, bright colours, the darkness of the night, organic shapes, and strong individualism, breaking the strength of straight lines. The sun and the darkness of the night led to the name "Equinox", since sun and night meet at equinox having equal powers.
